I’ve always had an interest in art on one level or
another but after the disillusionment of art classes and teachers at school I
left it alone for quite a while. I took up the interest again years later and
I started painting in 1991, working in Oils on canvas, occasionally using
acrylics. More recently, from 2004, my interest in digital art
increased and I began to play around with Corel Bryce 5. As my interest in
this medium grew I later moved on to E-onsoftware’s Vue 5 Infinite. With
this, I began to create, what I would consider, serious artwork. In 2007 I
felt a necessity to include 3D modelling in my work to increase the diversity
of my 3D art and began to learn how to use Lightwave 3D. This process is
still ongoing. Some traditional artists may consider digital art to
be a form of cheating. As much as I understand this point of view, I do not
agree with it. To me, art is personal creative expression (as long as there’s
a degree of talent behind it), and whatever medium is convenient to achieve
that is acceptable. |

| I often get asked what my work means. To this I can
only say that as far as the Surrealist work goes, I usually cannot answer,
as it stems from my subconscious and often evolves as I create it, whereas
some pieces appear in my head as a complete image. I don’t believe
that it makes the work meaningless but that the meaning may not necessarily
be there. What I do believe is that if I knew the meaning before
the creative process began, if it was premeditated, then it would not
be Surrealism. |
| Like everything in art, it is
up to the observer what it might mean to them, as art is seems to be
so subjective. If you find meaning in my work then it is what it means
to you. I create it with no meaning in mind. |
